John Ianelli, gone too soon

This week I lost a new friend, a perfect bandmate, and one super-talented musician. John W. Ianelli from Lincolnville, Maine was a member of our band 32 North. When he didn't show up for Friday's band meeting, we knew something was terribly wrong. We learned that John died suddenly from a stroke earlier in the week. Frank, Roger, Gary and I are still reeling from the news and the deep sense of loss it brings.

John was a fabulous dobro player, and a master of those "rolls" aficionados of the instrument love to hear. Our set included several old-timey instrumental tunes that we all looked forward to, and an original composition named LT in honor of his girlfriend Lisa. John was tall, lanky and very soft-spoken. He had one of the best smiles I've ever seen. A wicked talented musician and a wonderful human being.

Rest in peace, John.
