Last weekend, November 21-22, the A Team Band returned to its studio home, "The Pond," to record its most recent track, its first this year. We recorded Fingersnap of Time, a tune I wrote this summer inspired by an interview I heard with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anthony Doerr (All the Light We Cannot See). The band had a lot of fun hanging out and recording. One of the great pleasures for me was my first experience with a new vocalist; Maria Hauser from Jane's Great Dane did the honors.
The rest of the band: Peter Parcek ( electric guitar & ebow), Marc Hickox (bass), David Sparr (keys); John McGovern (trumpet/solo), Jeff Garmel (tenor sax), Scott Shreve (drums) and me (acoustic guitar). Of course, our Fearless Leader, Ducky, acted as camp counselor for the weekend.
Hard to describe this tune. A bit of pop ballad, a bit of Nora Jones, a bit of jazz.
I'm really happy with the results and my rough mix is about 95% finished. I will post and sell here in short order.
